Why does it matter to specifically support women landowners?
Women Owning Woodlands (WOW) is a community of women forest landowners and professionals who seek to be empowered land stewards. WOW is a space for landowners and nature enthusiasts to connect and learn about nature and land management. Women are a large and growing part of the landowner population - the percentage of forest land for which a woman is the primary decision-maker doubled from 2006 to 2023.
Today, women make decisions for 44 million acres of America’s family forest land.
Developing programs where women feel comfortable to ask questions, share goals, and practice technical skills builds the knowledge and confidence that leads to empowered and informed land management decisions.

WOW empowers women landowners to take action toward the future of their land by connecting them to information, resources, trusted professionals, training workshops, and a community of fellow women landowners.

WOW engages women landowners through events, workshops, resources, professional support, and personal stories. We are a network of forest stewards who support women who manage their lands across the country.

WOW connects like-minded individuals and initiates peer learning opportunities. We enable attendees to relate with other women who are working to achieve the same goals. Professionals within the network are there to support members in realizing their goals.
